Day by Day

Your 5-Day Journey, Unfolded

Every day on the trail designed to balance challenge, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

Day 01 📍 Imlil Marrakech → Imlil, the Gateway Village

We leave the city after breakfast and climb into the High Atlas — ninety minutes and a world away. Imlil sits at 1,740 m among walnut groves and terraced fields. You meet your mountain guide and the muleteers, then walk a gentle hour to loosen the legs.

Day 02 📍 Toubkal Refuge Up the Mizane Valley to the Refuge

The real walking begins. You follow the Mizane valley past Aroumd, cross the riverbed and climb steadily to the shrine at Sidi Chamharouch. The afternoon is a long, patient ascent to the refuge at 3,207 m, where the air thins and the light turns extraordinary.

Day 03 📍 Jebel Toubkal Summit Day — 4,167 m

A pre-dawn start by headtorch, up the south cwm over scree and rock. Steep but not technical, and your guide sets a pace you can hold. From the summit — the highest point in North Africa — the Sahara lies one way and the Atlantic haze the other. Back down to the refuge for a late lunch.

Day 04 📍 Imlil Down the Mountain, Slowly

A different way down through the Tizi n'Tamatert pass — quieter than the climb and greener with every hour. Mint tea with a family in Imlil, then a hot shower and a proper bed. Your legs will thank you.

Questions Answered

Your Toubkal Trek Questions

Everything about summiting Morocco's highest trekking peak and the Atlas valleys.

How fit do I need to be?+
The Jebel Toubkal summit (4,071m) requires good general fitness — comfortable walking 6–8 hours with 1,200m of elevation gain. No technical climbing. Valley sections are gentle.
What altitude sickness risk is there?+
Possible above 3,000m. We build in acclimatisation days and ascend gradually. Common symptoms — headache, fatigue — resolve with rest and hydration.
What is the accommodation like on the trek?+
Valley nights: simple Berber guesthouses with home-cooked meals. High-altitude nights: mountain tents or refuges. Desert nights: quality tented camps.
How do I book a tour?+
Click Book This Journey on any tour page or Start Planning in the nav. Fill in your dates and group — Jaouad replies personally within 24 hours. No deposit required at this stage.
Can I customise any itinerary?+
Every tour is a starting point. We adapt dates, extra nights, side trips, pace, and accommodation. Tell us your vision.
What is your payment process?+
30% deposit to confirm, balance due 60 days before departure. We accept bank transfer and major cards.
What is your cancellation policy?+
60+ days: full deposit refund. 30–60 days: 50% refund. Under 30 days: no refund, but we'll always try to reschedule. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Are your tours private?+
Yes — every tour is private. Your party, your vehicle, your guide. We never add strangers to fill seats.
How far ahead should I book?+
Spring and autumn (peak seasons): 3–6 months ahead. Summer and winter: less notice usually fine.
What is the best time to visit Morocco?+
Spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Nov) are most comfortable across all regions. Summer is very hot in the Sahara but ideal for high-altitude trekking. Winter is mild in cities and magical in the desert at night.
Do I need a visa?+
USA, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia don't need a visa — 90-day stamp on arrival. Check your specific passport if you're unsure.
What currency is used?+
Moroccan Dirham (MAD). ATMs are widely available. Carry cash for souks, tips, and rural areas.
What should I pack?+
Light layers, modest clothing for medinas and mosques, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and any prescription medication.
Is the tap water safe?+
Drink bottled or filtered water throughout Morocco. Your accommodation will provide it.
What is a riad?+
A traditional Moroccan house built around a central courtyard. Intimate, beautifully decorated, locally owned. We select riads for character and hospitality, not star ratings.
What is Moroccan food like?+
Tagines, pastilla, couscous, harira, fresh sfenj. Rich, aromatic, slow-cooked. Vegetarian options are widely available. Food hygiene at quality riads and restaurants is excellent.
Will I experience genuine culture?+
This is the core of what we do. Jaouad grew up in the High Atlas — Amazigh heritage runs through everything. We visit homes, eat where locals eat, take paths that don't appear in guidebooks.
Is Morocco safe?+
Morocco is generally safe and welcoming. A knowledgeable local guide eliminates most friction. Modest dress is appreciated. Solo women travellers should be aware of unsolicited attention in busy medinas.
What vaccinations do I need?+
No vaccinations are legally required. Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid. Keep tetanus up to date. Consult a travel health clinic 4–6 weeks before departure.
What are the emergency numbers?+
Medical: 15 · Police: 19 · Gendarmerie: 177. Your guide is always your first contact. We provide a 24/7 WhatsApp number to all active guests.
